Summer Day Camp Fort Mill at the Complex

Join the summer of champions at YMCA’s Summer Day Camp at Fort Mill YMCA at the Complex! Weekly activities include: field trips, swimming, group games, daily devotions, team building, crafts, summer reading, character development games and more!

AGES: Rising Kindergarten—8th
(Age group based on 2024/2025 grade level)
DATES: June 3 – August 2
*Camp will not meet July 4th or 5th
TIMES: Monday—Friday (7:00am—6:00pm daily)
*Kinder Camp drop off time 7:30 – 8:30 AM and pick up time 4:30 – 5:30 PM.
COST: Members – $200/wk | Non-members – $270/wk

  • January 3 – Current afterschool participants
  • January 10 – All YMCA members
  • January 17 – General Public

You may reserve a space for your child by paying the full camp fee or with a non-refundable $25 deposit for each week of camp. The remainder of the payment is due the Saturday prior to the week of camp and will automatically be charged to the credit/debit card on file.

Change Fee: If you have to change one week to another, your deposit will transfer to the new week; however a $10 change fee will apply to each change made to the camper’s registered schedule.

*Income-based financial assistance is available for families in need. Assistance is granted on the basis of financial need. We use a sliding fee scale based on total household income.


Week 1 (June 3rd – June 7th) | Champions of our Community – Campers will “unplug” and kick off the summer traveling the world, learning about community leaders, and create passports of all their travels.

Week 2 (June 10th – June 14th) | Champions of Nature – Campers will experience a week full of outside scavenger hunts, creepy crawlers, plant life, and diggin’ in the dirt.

Week 3 (June 17th – June 21st) | Champions of Culinary – Campers will experience a week full of fun food creations and food science. Campers will prepare, cook, and eat their own creative culinary creations.

Week 4 (June 24th – 28th) | Champions of Space – Campers will experience an “Out of this World” week full of space travel, rocket ship creations, solar system fun facts, and much more!

Week 5 (July 1st – July 3rd) | Champions of Holidays – Campers will experience Christmas in July, Costume Dress-Up Day, and the All American Cookout Celebration.

Week 6 (July 8th – July 12th) | Champions of Imagination – Campers use their imagination and creativity to experience a week of Lego building, creating their own building designs, fun video gaming, and much more!

Week 7 (July 15th – July 19th) | Champions of Time Travel – Campers will travel back in time to experience a week of the 1920’s, 60’s, 80’s and much more! Fun history facts, character days, and decades of fun!

Week 8 (July 22nd – July 26th) | Champions of the Y Olympics – Campers will experience a week of Olympic games and sports. Campers will create their own Olympic torch and flag to showcase at the Y Olympic Ceremony!

Week 9 (July 29th – August 2nd) | Champions of Summer – Campers will celebrate as Champions of Summer Camp. A week full of fun events and an End of Summer Celebration!

Kinder Camp

Rising Kindergarteners (must turn 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1, 2024). Kinder Camp will be hosted in the Preschool area of the Complex where campers will experience fun themed weeks, onsite field trips, swimming, and much more!

Drop off time 7:30 – 8:30 AM and pick up time 4:30 – 5:30 PM.

Angie Smith

Angie Smith, is a gifted writer, encourager and loving mother of four. Together with her husband, former NFL player Steve Smith, they established The Steve Smith Family Foundation, which is dedicated to providing hope and inspiration to those in need while advancing causes  close to the family’s heart – Promoting family health & wellness as well as the awareness and prevention of domestic violence.

In 2022, The Steve Smith Foundation and Mecklenburg County partnered to create Charlotte’s first behavioral health urgent care, a 24/7, 365 urgent care facility dedicated to mental health and substance abuse needs.

Angie’s commitment to her family, transparency and unselfishness, by putting other’s needs before her own, is an inspiration to all of us!

Alan Tyson

Alan Tyson is the President Architech Sports and Physical Therapy. He was the former Vice President of Sports Performance and Rehabilitation for OrthoCarolina. He is a physical therapist board certified as a sports clinical specialist, a certified athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist. He has worked with the Charlotte Knights (AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox) and continues to serve as a consultant to the team. Alan is also a consultant with the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Eagles.

Alan has spoken regionally and nationally on various training topics including the foot and ankle, spine care, hip and knee rehabilitation, and he has developed two continuing education courses on the shoulder. He has written 3 books and developed specific training programs for the female athlete, the baseball pitcher, and for football players preparing for the NFL combines. Alan is also an associate editor of the National Strength and Conditioning Journal. He co-hosted a weekly radio show “Health Headlines” on 1110AM WBT with Stacey Sims and Dr. Russ Greenfield for 3 years.

Antoinette Johnson

Through her triumph on “America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation,” Antoinette’s unwavering perseverance catapulted her career, proving that with passion and determination, anything is possible. With a heart dedicated to community and a love for supporting local farmers, Antoinette’s journey is a testament to embracing change, fostering growth, and inspiring others to follow their culinary dreams.

Beyond her culinary triumphs, Antoinette is a firm believer in the power of evolution and perseverance. She stands as a shining example of how one can constantly evolve, change, and grow on their journey to success. Antoinette’s story is one of resilience and determination, inspiring others to follow their passions despite any challenges they may encounter.

Now, with a cookbook deal and cash grand prize, Antoinette is forging ahead on her culinary adventure, driven by the desire to prove herself and inspire her daughter.
